Boonville- Donald E. Schue, 85, husband of Mary passed away on Sunday, February 12, 2017 in Port Orange, Florida. He was surrounded by the loving care of family at the Port Orange, Halifax Hospice Center after a short illness.

Donald was born on July 10, 1931, the son of the late Edwin and Katherine Schue of Boonville, NY. On September 17, 1955 Donald was united in marriage with Mary A. Gillen, a long union of over 61 years that blessed them with three children. He was a parishoner of Christ Our Hope Church, Boonville, NY and Ephihany Church, Port Orange, Florida. Donald deeply loved his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Donald served four years, 1951-55, in the United States Navy on the USS Wallace L. Lind. He worked as an electrician for 32 years at Rome Cable where he was also a union president. He did electrical and construction jobs on his own time. Donald also was a past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus and a member of the Elks Lodge and American Legion, Boonville. He was an amazing and competitive athlete playing all sports. He was an outdoorsman enjoying all seasons and also belonged to the TRI-FALKA Hunting Club. He was an avid deer hunter his whole life and took many hunting trips across the country. Also he loved fishing, waterskiing, boating, snowmobiling, golf, was a member of bowling and horseshoe leagues. Most of all he loved the cottage he built for over 50 years on Brantingham Lake. Later in life he looked forward to spending their winters at their place in South Daytona, Florida.

In addition to his wife Mary of Boonville, NY, Donald is survived by his three children; Kenneth Schue (friend Beverly Mayette) Liverpool, NY, Gail (Fred) Wieczerzak, Boonville, NY and Brenda Chapple (friend Phil Purcell) Utica, NY; six grandchildren, James Schue, Lake Worth, Fl, John Schue, Boston, Ma., Ashley (Steve) Ellinger, Boonville, NY, Elise Wieczerzak (fiancé James Gilbert) Rochester, NY, Shawn (Amber) Chapple, Fayetteville, NC, and Nathan (Danielle) Chapple, Utica, NY and six great grand children, Tyler and Brody Ellinger, Gabriella, Giulianna and Shawn Maxwell Chapple and Arden Chapple; two sisters, Theresa Edelman, Rome, NY and Iris Outimette, Utica, NY. Donald was predeceased by a brother, Gerald Schue and sisters, Helen Gleason and Aleatha Conley.

A prayer service will be held on Monday, February 20, 2017 at Mills Funeral Home, 301 Post St. Boonville at 9:45 a.m. followed by his Mass of Christian burial at Christ Our Hope Church/St. Joseph’s Church, Boonville at 10:30 a.m. Interment this spring will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, with military honors. Calling hours are Sunday, February 19, 2017, from 1-5 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to Christ Our Hope Church/Boonville Parish or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tn. 38105.
