James Fazekas

September 14, 1949 to December 6, 2017

Boonville-James (Mike) Fazekas, 68, passed away on December 6, 2017 at Sunset Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Boonville surrounded by his family.

Mike was born in Constableville on September 14, 1949, a son of James and Christine Kafka Fazekas. He grew up in Turin and graduated from South Lewis High School. He served in the Marine Corp from 1969-71. Upon his discharge he was employed at various construction jobs in the area as well as Revere Copper & Brass.Mike married Linda Weaver on September 14, 1998. She died September 17, 2013. Mike enjoyed woodworking, mowing the lawn, riding his tractor and fishing.

Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Kelly and Josh Szyper, Lee Center; two grandchildren, Alona and Brett; brothers and sisters, Julie O’Brien and Robert (Butch) Wyllie, Boonville, Joseph and Marie Fazekas, North Western, Mary Jensen, Rome, Dennis and Karen Fazekas, Turin, Tina and Gary Knutti, Westernville, Chris and Jan Fazekas, Rome and Penny and Brian Carpenter, Rome and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and a brother-in-law, Chris Jensen, February 2017.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, December 8, 2017 from 4-7 p.m. at Mills Funeral Home, 301 Post Street, Boonville. Spring interment will be in Carmichael Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or to Sunset Nursing Home Activity’s Fund, 232 Academy Street, Boonville.

Members of the Harland J. Hennessey Post V.F.W. Charles J. Love Post American Legion, and Tun Tavern Leather Neck Marine Corps League will conduct Military Rites at 6 PM on Friday at the Funeral Home.
