Alder Creek Fire

Oneida County- A family lost their home after a fire yesterday in the Town of Boonville.

At just before 5:00pm Wednesday, emergency services were called to reports of a fire at 11819 State Route 12. Boonville fire Chief Dave Pritchard told us initial investigations are indicating that the basement wood stove was a likely cause of the blaze.

Flames spread from the basement, up to the garage, into the side-walls and up into the attic, before completely destroying the home. Pritchard said firefighters had a “hard time” fighting the blaze.

Route 12 was shut down to just one lane. The New York State Police, Oneida County Sheriff’s Office and the State DOT all worked together to direct traffic. No injuries were reported.

Remsen and Forestport Fire departments assisted at the scene, while Constabelville was placed on standby.
