Oneida County- Congresswoman Claudia Tenney announced last week nearly $5-million in federal funding that will be awarded to various towns and villages, including Boonville.
Officials from her office say the Village of Boonville will be awarded $1,129,000 (in the form of a loan) for the failing 1792 box culvert system, which a portion of the storm sewer has collapsed in front of the fire department, blocking its entrance and exit.
“America’s rural communities have been left behind due to a lack of strong and sustained investments. It is vital that our water infrastructure in rural communities like the 22nd District is properly funded to ensure safe, clean drinking water,” said Tenney. “This funding is an important step forward in improving our infrastructure and expanding water access for rural areas in the 22nd District.”
According to the Congresswoman, the funding will come from the Department of Agriculture. Tenney is currently out touring the district for ‘Renew NY-22’, a plan to revitalize and renew opportunities for the region.
