Fire

Lowville, NY- A passerby alerted emergency services to a fire at a local flower shop late Wednesday night in Lewis County.

Officials from Lewis County Emergency Management said the Lowville Fire Department was dispatched at around 10:50pm to Guignards Flower Shop, 6570 Number Four Road, Lowville, NY. The passerby notified emergency authorities of what appeared to be flames in the structure.

When firefighters arrived at the scene, they located a truck inside the greenhouse with a large fire in the engine compartment. Crews worked quickly and were able to douse the flames and pull the truck out of the greenhouse, which reportedly limited damage to the structure, emergency officials said. According to officials, the flower shop sustained minor fire and smoke damage to its interior, while the truck was destroyed.

New Bremen Fire Department was called to provide mutual aid. No injuries were reported by authorities and although the cause remains under investigation, officials say evidence currently indicates a possible electrical issue.

Lewis County Search & Rescue also responded to the scene and no other details are available at this time.
