Fire

Town of Ava, NY- A house was destroyed by flames Thursday night in Oneida County.

According to Boonville Fire Chief Dave Pritchard, emergency services were called out overnight to 10985 Webster Hill Road in the town of Ava for reports of a fire in progress. Chief Pritchard said West Leyden Fire Department was the primary responder, while Boonville and Westernville were called to assist.

By the time firefighters assembled at the scene, Pritchard said flames were visible and the home was fully involved. Fire crews worked hard in cold temperatures to fight the fames, but officials confirmed the home was totally destroyed. Emergency officials say everyone got out in time and Pritchard reported no injuries. The Red Cross has reportedly been contacted to assist with establishing basic needs for the family.

At 9:20am Friday, Boonville Fire Department Assistant Chief Dean Yauger told us that fire crews from West Leyden were dispatched back to the scene for reports of flames rekindling. No other information was available to report.
