Lowville, NY- The Lewis County IDA bought the former Climax Manufacturing property in October and the former workplace for many is now being referred to as the Lewis County Center for Business.
IDA Director Eric Virkler spoke with reporters from WWNY-TV and says the community is looking forward to using the once economically powerful facility. “Jobs. Creating some opportunities for other business and see what we can do to keep the building active, keep people in it and employee people in it,” he said. IDA officials purchased the former Climax facility for $800,000 this past fall.
Officials are now looking to attract new businesses to fill the 170,000 square foot building. One company already staking claim in the building is Ox Paperboard, the same group that bought Carthage Specialty Paperboard. Officials said Ox Paperboard is currently utilizing a section of the building for warehousing.
Stay tuned, the IDA is planning an open house on February 28 for a glimpse of the new horizon ahead for Lewis County’s Center for Business.
