Emergency regulations that were issued by state health officials near the end of last week include stricter rules for children vaccine medical exemptions.

Following the elimination of religious exemptions, these new regulations aim to keep people from accessing medical exemptions for non-medical reasons. According to the New York Department of Health, doctors who issue any medical exemptions must now complete a state certified form, which specifically would highlight all medical reasons preventing a child from getting each required vaccine.

In June, Governor Cuomo signed a measure into law that ended all non-medical exemptions for required vaccines for students to attend classes in the state.
