Lowville- Police say an Adams, NY man was arrested Thursday afternoon for allegedly driving while impaired by drugs in the village.
Lewis County Sheriff’s Deputies say they stopped a 2002 Honda CRV on Utica Boulevard’s northbound lane at just before 12:15 p.m. The driver, Steven E. Gleason II, 39, was stopped for a reported traffic violation, deputies said. While interviewing with Gleason II, police said they suspected he was under the influence.
After failing field sobriety tests at the scene, police arrested him for suspicion of driving while ability impaired.
Following an evaluation by a certified Drug Recognition Expert, Gleason II was charged with DWAI (drugs), aggravated unlicensed operation in the 3rd-degree and other unspecified traffic violations.
After processing at the Public Safety Building, he was released with appearance tickets and is due to answer the charges in the Village of Lowville Court at a later date. Lowville Village Police and the New York State Police assisted with the investigation.
