The New York State Board of Electric Generation Siting and the Environment granted approval to Number Three Wind L.L.C. to construct and operate a wind farm in Lewis County on Tuesday.

The siting boards decision follows reviews and a public participation process according to a press release from the siting board. The 105.8 mega watt project will consist of 31 turbines, 31 to be in the Town of Lowville and 18 to be in the Town of Harrisburg. The project is expected to create 50 direct construction jobs, provide additional revenue to local governments and bring in over 44 million dollars to the local economy.
