Town of Steuben- The Oneida County Sheriff’s Office says they are investigating a logging accident, where a man was taken to an area hospital late Monday afternoon.

Emergency officials say the incident was called in at just before 5:00 p.m. on the Evans Road in the Town of Steuben.

Police learned that a man had been struck in the head with a tree that he had cut down.

Members of the Sheriff’s Office, New York State Police, Remsen and Barneveld Fire Departments and STaR Ambulance soon arrived on scene, where they had to hike their way nearly a half-mile through the woods.

The man received treatment on scene and was prepared for Barneveld’s UTV transport to an ambulance, where he was taken to a nearby hospital for additional evaluation and treatment.

No further details have been made available from authorities. The Sheriff’s Office says they plan on updating with another press release.
