The North Country has finally been greeted with some beautiful summer-like weather and health experts say it’s no surprise that people have been getting outside.

As we continue to work our way through this coronavirus outbreak, state officials are encouraging you and families to enjoy recreation close to home.

“DEC is encouraging visitors to New York's natural resources to get outside to recreate locally, practice physical distancing, show respect, and use common sense to protect themselves and others this weekend and throughout the summer season,” DEC Commissioner Basil Segos said.

He emphasized that recreation is a crucial part of one’s well-being, especially amidst this pandemic. However, Segos further pleads with families to be responsible, follow the guidelines and spend time with those of your immediate household.

The DEC has a list of adjustments that have been made in their effort to reduce the spread of the virus. Read up on these changes on the DEC’s website.
