WEBB- Police say a man from Rome was released via the bail reform laws after assaulting someone and preventing them from calling emergency services Friday in the town of Webb.

According to Town of Webb Police, this incident happened during the late evening hours at the Old Forge Camping Resort.

After gathering testimonies, police arrested Robert J. Gerace Jr., 36, for misdemeanor counts of assault in the third-degree and criminal mischief in the fourth-degree.

It’s alleged that Gerace punched the victim in the face and head area multiple times, while also preventing them from contacting 9-1-1, the Town of Webb Police said.

After his virtual arraignment in Herkimer County CAP Court, he was released on his own recognizance under state bail reform laws, according to police.

Gerace is scheduled to appear in the Town of Webb Court at a later date.
