Lewis County Sheriffs Office 2

CROGHAN- Police say a man from Boonville, NY is accused of criminal trespass in Lewis County.

The sheriff’s office says Sean Shanks, 58, was arrested at 9:15 p.m. Monday following an alleged disturbance at a residence in Croghan.

Deputies were called out to 9739 State Route 812, where it’s reported that Mr. Shanks was told several times to leave a person’s apartment, but allegedly refused to do so, police said.

When deputies arrived and joined in requesting Mr. Shanks to vacate the property, he still reportedly refused to leave, according to the sheriff’s office.

He was then taken to the Public Safety Building in Lowville, where he was formally charged with a misdemeanor count of criminal trespass in the second-degree.

Shanks was issued an appearance ticket and is due to appear in the Town of New Bremen Court at a later date.

The New York State Police provided assistance.
