WESTERN- A Boonville woman was taken to a local hospital for minor injuries after being involved in a motor vehicle accident Friday afternoon in the town of Western.

The Oneida County Sheriff’s Office says the accident occurred at the intersection of State Route 46 and State Route 274 at just before 12:15 p.m.

Through investigation, deputies have determined Crystal A. Sokoloff, 50, was heading north on Route 46. As Sokoloff neared the intersection, deputies say Emma M. Shoemaker, 17, of Remsen began a left off from Route 274, causing a collision to occur.

Police said members from AmCare Ambulance took Sokoloff to Rome Memorial Hospital, where she was treated for minor injuries.

Emergency responders evaluated Shoemaker on the scene, but she was not taken to a hospital for any further treatment, the sheriff’s office said.

Shoemaker was cited for failing to yield the right of way.

Deputies said the sheriff’s office received assistance from Western Volunteer Fire Department.
