ONEIDA COUNTY- A portion of State Route 12 was shut down for a while late Friday morning in the town of Trenton after a tractor trailer damaged a utility pole.

The incident was called in to dispatchers at around 11:30 a.m.

Oneida County Sheriff’s Deputies say Edward A. Liner, 60, of Canton, TX was in the process of exiting a private parking lot, with intents of merging onto Route 12.

That’s when his tractor trailer became attached to nearby electrical power lines, causing a pole to break and the power lines to be cut off, deputies said. Authorities closed all four lanes of traffic between State Route 28 and the Mapledale Road, the sheriff’s office said.

No injuries were reported and no tickets have been issued.

Police said crews from National Grid managed to clear the power lines from Route 12 and remained on scene to complete the repairs.

Route 12 has since been re-opened, deputies said.

The sheriff’s office received assistance from Barneveld Volunteer Fire Department and the New York State Police.
