The schedule has been set for the Black River Trash Bash, which starting this Saturday.  Officials with the Tug Hill Commission report that 5 areas along the Black River are included in the event.  At each location, volunteers will clean the shoreline & as trash is removed, data will be collected about the findings & passed along to the American Littoral Society to develop strategies to fight pollution.  The Lyons Falls and Port Leyden cleanup will be Saturday with volunteers meeting at the Lyons Falls upper boat launch at 10 a.m. Community groups wishing to help should call 348-9991.  The Carthage and Greig cleanups also will be Saturday. Volunteers in Carthage will meet at the West Carthage boat launch at 10 a.m.  For more information, call 493-3590.  Greig-area
volunteers will meet at the Glenfield boat launch at 9 a.m.  For more information on the Greig cleanup, call 376-6122.  The final cleanup will be in Boonville on October 6th with volunteers meeting at Erwin Park at 8 a.m.  For more information on the Boonville cleanup, call 942-2610.  Trash bags will be provided at each site and gloves for all participants have been donated by White's Lumber and Building Supply. Nirvana Spring Water has donated bottled water for each location.
