The Lewis County General Hospital Board of Managers unanimously approved hiring separate physician groups for hospitalist and emergency services.  The Board voted 8-0 to contract with Rural Physicians Group and NES Medical Services with the hope of both starting at the facility January 1st. Hospital CEO Eric Burch said that NES will work with any emergency room doctors who wish to stay at the facility. The medical staff recently voted in favor of both groups.  North Country Physicians, which handles the ER, submitted its resignation after the hospital sent out requests for proposals for an emergency room physician group and hospitalist service, which
is not currently offered here.  Hospital officials stated that they are working with individual doctors to ensure no gap in coverage through the end of the year.
