Lewis County foreclosed on 50 tax-delinquent parcels, which is the fewest since 2010.  The Johnson Newspapers report that the number is down from the 65 properties foreclosed on last year, 52 in 2011 and 47 in 2010.  Property owners have until mid-May to redeem their parcels & keep them from being included in the county tax auction.  The properties can be redeemed by paying all taxes and fees and any delinquent taxes from
January 2012, plus 10% of that amount as an auctioneer's fee and 5% of the parcel's full value.  County officials
have identified a couple of parcels in the towns of Greig and Osceola that could be pulled from the auction to possibly be added to the county reforestation holdings, which would require approval from the Board of
Legislators.  Two other properties are being researched to ensure there are no outstanding environmental problems as they may include underground gasoline tanks.
