A 29 year old Port Leyden woman is facing a charge of endangering the welfare of a child.  State Police out of Lowville report that Shawna Ferris was charged for her alleged excessive corporal punishment of a 6 year old
child.  The investigation was initiated when the child's babysitter, who reported observing bruising on the child's
face.  Lewis County Child Protective Services is assisting with the investigation. Ferris was issued an appearance ticket returnable to the Village of Port Leyden court on March 6th.
