The local region has seen a much improved winter sports season compared to last year.  Old Forge tourism officials report that snowmobile trail permit sales are a little above average this year compared to below average last year.  Snowmobiling conditions in the Boonville area have also been described as very good this
year with local hotels reporting that they are totally booked up for the weekend.  Snowmobiling's economic impact in Oneida County is estimated at over $25 million per year.  Town of Webb officials estimate the annual
snowmobiling impact at around $6 million. The Town of Webb owns approximately 500 square miles of land containing some 38 snowmobile trails.
