ROME- A man from Northern Oneida County is accused of possessing cocaine and methamphetamine after police conducted a traffic stop in the city of Rome, NY last week, authorities say.

Dustin Eaton, 30, of Boonville, NY is officially charged with criminally possessing a controlled substance in the fourth and fifth-degrees, along with speeding, city police said.

It was at around 5:30 a.m. June 10 when Rome patrols clocked a vehicle at 55-mph in a 30-mph zone on South James Street. As police investigated, officers learned that the Driver, Mr. Eaton, had an open bench warrant from city court.

He was taken into custody and a search of Eaton’s vehicle revealed quantities of apparent drugs, including nearly 30-grams of meth and over 1.5 grams of cocaine, according to investigators.

Police said Mr. Eaton is due to appear in Rome City Court to address his charges.
