Steuben Log Truck Crash May 2022

STEUBEN- The woman who was airlifted to a Syracuse hospital Wednesday after colliding with a log truck is lucky to be alive, authorities say.

At some time shortly after 10:00 a.m., Oneida County Emergency Dispatchers received calls about a wreck involving a log truck and a smaller car on State Route 274, town of Steuben.

Sheriff’s Office investigation has revealed that Alan Clemons, 64, of Dolgeville, NY was hauling a full load of logs easterly on a flat-bed log truck.

While Clemons was going along, a 2005 Hundai, reportedly driven by Angele Veloso (no age or hometown address provided), suddenly appeared in the roadway – coming from Cemetery Street.

A collision occurred. Both the log truck and Hundai ended up in a nearby filed. Images taken by officials on scene suggest that the car was squashed by the truck.

Clemons complained of no injuries, while Veloso was rescued from the wreckage and flown to SUNY Upstate Medical Center. Authorities described her injuries to be non-life threatening.

Members from the New York State Police; Holland Patent and Western Fire Departments; STAR Ambulance, NYS Department of Transportation and Shufelt's Towing all assisted on scene.
