NEW BREMEN AND WATSON- A Lewis County man is faced with a swath of charges, including animal cruelty, following a brief pursuit Wednesday, authorities say.

Jared G. Lehman, 37, of the town of Watson, is officially charged with misdemeanor counts of resisting arrest; unlawfully fleeing in a motor vehicle and reckless endangerment in the second-degree, all according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office.

Police say these charges stem from a brief pursuit that allegedly occurred in the town of New Bremen. Lehman was apparently traveling between 30 and 40-mph while sheriff’s patrol cruisers pursued with lights and sirens activated.

Deputies managed to stop him on State Route 812, just north of New Bremen.

Lehman allegedly resisted his arrested and struggled against deputies while they eventually placed him into custody.

He was brought to the Public Safety Building for processing.

In a separate case, Lehman is also accused of failing to provide his two pet dogs food and water for the last few weeks, police say. Deputies received the cruelty complaint on Sunday.

He is formally charged with violating section 353 of the AG & Markets Law.

Lehman was processed and released to a third party.

His charges for the pursuit are all returnable to the Town of New Bremen Court at a later date. His animal cruelty charge is returnable to the Town of Watson Court at a later date.
