WATERTOWN- A North Country animal shelter has received a $5,000 donation from a non-profit group.
On Thursday, ‘Petco Love’ gave a check to the Lewis County Humane Society, with aims for the shelter to use the money to help control the local pet population. This development is according to what Amber Zehr, Manager of Lewis County Humane Society, told reporters from WWNY-TV.
“We do spay-neuter clinics every couple months to help with the stray cat population and stuff because it is really bad in this area, so we are hoping to host more clinics to help with that,” she said.
Petco Love advocates for animal adoption, along with animal welfare. Officials say the money will also go towards training for dogs.
The check was gifted at the Petco location in Watertown.
