Lillian M. Maurer

July 13, 1935 to September 10, 2014

Boonville- Lillian M. Maurer, 89, of Route 46 passed away September 10, 2014 at Lewis County Residential Health Care Facility, Lowville.

She was born on July 13, 1925, a daughter of George and Margaret Gleason Throne. She grew up in the Town of Lee and attended rural school and married Alton Maurer and the couple settled in West Leyden on Route 26 where they operated a farm. They also owned and operated Almar Restaurant & Bar, West Branch. Mr. Maurer died in 1983. Lillian was employed at the West Leyden Hotel and was a baker for Mercers Bakery in Boonville. She then went to Lyons Falls to work at the paper mill and retired in 1987.

She enjoyed her family, grandchildren, great grandchildren, knitting and crocheting. Lillian was a past member of Daughters of Isabella and St. Joseph’s Church, Boonville.

Surviving are two daughters and a son-in-law, Marjorie and Scott Sickler, Lakewood, NY, Judith Coffey, Monticello, KY; two sons and daughter-in-law, Tony and Maryann Maurer, Boonville, Chad Maurer, Boonville and daughter-in-law Peggy Maurer, Boonville; 15 grandchildren; many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren and one sister, Ellen Gallivan, Rome. She was predeceased by two sons, Tom Maurer in 2008 and John Peter Maurer as an infant and two sisters, Agnes Cole and Jean McCanney.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, September 13, 2014 at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Church, Boonville with Rev. Donald Karlen officiating. Burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery, West Leyden. Calling hours at Mills Funeral Home, 301 Post St. Boonville will be Friday 6-9 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Thomas Maurer Scholarship c/o Adirondack High School Business Office, 110 Ford Street, Boonville, NY 13309 or St Joseph’s Church Memorial Fund.
