Alder Creek- Marilyn A. Pfendler, 59, of Taylor Road, passed away on April 8, 2015 at St. Luke’s Hospital after a several month illness.
She was born in Utica, N.Y. on August 11, 1955, a daughter of William and Christine Allen Sprowell. She grew up in Forestport and graduated from Adirondack Central High School in 1974. She married Eric Pfendler October 30, 1976 in Boonville. She was employed at Rome Specialty Company, Forestport retiring due to disability in the early 19080’s.
She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Forestport and the Altar& Rosary Society; she served on the Adirondack Central School Board of Education for five years as well as volunteering for the ACS Sports Booster Club. She enjoyed canning, cooking, baking, playing cards, and loved her dog, Penny.
Surviving are her husband, Eric; son and daughter-in-law, Jason (Jake) and Elizabeth Pfendler, Remsen; stepson and step daughter-in-law, Eric and Jennifer Pfendler, Georgia; two grandchildren, Nicholas and Mitchell Pfendler; brothers and sisters-in-law, Patrick and Ursella Sprowell, Colorado Springs, CO; William (Duke) and Royanne Sprowell, Forestport and Christopher and Tracey Sprowell, Boonville; sister-in-law, Barbara Sprowell, Rochester; additional brothers and sisters-in-law, Joan and Bill Rham, Las Vegas, Nevada, Julie Pfendler, Woodbury, Wisconsin, Janice and Gary Schuh, Rome and Daniel Pfendler, Lee Center . Marilyn was predeceased by a brother, Michael Sprowell and a brother-in-law, Jerry Pfendler. Also surviving are special friends, Rosemarie Roy, Donna Sweeney and Amy Griffin.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, April 11, 2015 at 11 a.m. at Christ Our Hope, St. Joseph’s Church, Boonville. Calling hours will be held Friday, April 10, 2015 from 4-7 p.m. at Mills Funeral Home, 301 Post Street, Boonville. Burial will be later in the spring at St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to Christ Our Hope, St. Joseph’s Church or to Sunset Nursing Home Activities Fund.
