Boonville -- John A. Addington, 68, of Reed Lane, passed away on Wednesday, April 8, 2015, while under the loving care of his family.
John was born on January 29, 1947, in Rome, a son of Charles H. and Ora P. Williamson Addington. He spent the earlier years of his life in Sauquiot and Paris Station before moving to Boonville with his mother and siblings in 1957. John was educated in Sauquoit Valley Central School before completing his education at Adirondack Central School.
Following his schooling John worked for Don Crill at Crill's Service Center, and later for Jim and Rosie Dolan, tending bar and driving truck for Jim. For a time, he was employed with the Seargent Chair and Stool Co., Boonville, and later for Foley's Construction Co., in Old Forge. For several years in the summer months, John drove for Coleman Bros. Shows, moving the carnival around the north east. John drove the last few years for V.S. Virkler & Sons, Inc., retiring in 2009.
John will be fondly remembered as a loving and caring man, always there for anyone who needed help. He was a life member of the Boonville Rod & Gun Club. He enjoyed helping out with the various projects at the Club, especially the annual Fishing Derby.
John was blessed to have spent the last twenty years with the love of his life, Yvette Lallier of Hawkinsville. Besides Yvette, John is survived by his siblings, Charlene (Maynard) Capron, Boonville, Alan (Maggie) Addington, Boonville, Kay-Ellen Dority, Grover, NC, and Curtis (Mary) Addington, Hawkinsville, as well as several nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, across the country. Also surviving is George "Skipper" VanBuskirk, who John loved like a son, and many, many friends throughout the north country. John was predeceased by his parents, his brother, Richard "Dick" Addington, and Kelly VanBuskirk, who was like a daughter to him.
Per John's wishes there will be no calling hours. Family and friends will be invited to attend Graveside Services this Spring in Joslin Cemetery, Boonville. His arrangments have been entrusted to the Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St., Boonville. Memorial contributions may be made to the Boonville Rod & Gun Club to be used towards the Stanley Yager Memorial Fishing Derby.
