Merwin J. Hoage

Boonville-Merwin J. Hoage, 70, of Thornton Ave. passed away unexpectedly on March 13, 2017 at St. Luke’s Hospital.

He was born in Lowville, N.Y. on April 29, 1946 a son of Merwin A. and Frieda Kaddick Hoage. He grew up in Talcottville where he attended elementary school. Merwin then attended Boonville High School. Merwin served in the United States Navy from 1964-68. Upon his discharge he came back to Boonville and was employed by Julian Egnaczyk at Boonville Oil. Merwin was united in marriage with Carol Dano on June 11, 1977 at St. Joseph’s Church Boonville. From 1975-2001Merwin was a machinist at Lyons Falls Pulp & Paper. From 2001-2008 he was employed at Adirondack High School as a custodian. He enjoyed NASCAR, fishing, camping and his grandchildren.

Surviving are his wife, Carol; children, Kevin Hoage and Michelle Hirschey, Greenboro, N.C., Kathy Green, Boonville, Merwin and Teresa Hoage, Boonville, Carolyn Yager and Vincent Teti, Holland Patent and Kenny Hoage, Boonville; seven grandchildren, Felicia, Dylan, McKenzie, Ethan, Hailey, Kaylee and Trevor; a brother, Richard Hoage, Seattle Washington; a sister, Joyce, Florida and special nephew, Peter Yousey, Remsen. Merwin was predeceased by his father Merwin A. in 1971, his mother Frieda in 1998 and a brother, Chipper, October 1997.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday, March 16, 2017 at 10 a.m. at Christ Our Hope Church, Boonville. Calling hours will be on Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. at Mills Funeral Home, 301 Post Street, Boonville. Spring burial in Talcottville Cemetery.
