John H. Andrews

April 13, 1945 to March 14, 2017

Boonville- John H. Andrews, 71, of LaChausse Road, passed away at his residence on Tuesday, March 14, 2017.

He was born in Boonville, on April 13, 1945, a son of Frederick E. and Marian Gantner Andrews. John grew up in Boonville, where he graduated from Boonville Central School, with the Class of 1964. Thereafter he was employed for several years as an auto mechanic at Poppleton Chevy and Oldsmobile Auto dealership in Boonville. Later he moved to San Francisco, CA, where he was employed as an auto mechanic.

After returning to Boonville, Mr. Andrews was employed as a heavy equipment operator for many years in road construction; his last employment was as a truck driver at Poland Sand & Gravel Co.

John was a member of Boonville United Methodist Church, a long time active member of Boonville Fire Company and a 50 year and life member of Boonville Elks Lodge B.P.O.E. # 2158. In his earlier life he enjoyed hunting, fishing and the out of doors; he was a NY Yankee Baseball fan.

He is survived by his companion of many years, Jean H. (Griffith) Salmon, Boonville; one brother and sister in law, Robert and Jerusha Andrews and a brother in law, David J. Leffingwell, all of Boonville. John was predeceased by a sister, Carol M. Leffingwell, in 2009, and by his parents. Also surviving are nieces and nephews, Sheri Lee, Toni (Mike) Farr, David Joseph Leffingwell, II, Shawn (Jenifer) Andrews and Brian (Amy) Andrews.

Graveside services will be held in the spring in Boonville Cemetery, at a time to be announced. There are no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to Boonville Fire Co. Ambulance Fund, P.O. Box 164, Boonville, NY 13309. Arrangements are in care of Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville.
