LYONS FALLS – Thomas E. Hoskins, 77, formerly of Hoskins Road, died Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at Sunset Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Boonville.

Thomas Edgar Hoskins was born October 28, 1939, a son of the late Jay and Mildred Hoskins. Tom attended and graduated from Lyons Falls School. He married the love of his life, Eleanor Burrows, on July 21, 1960 in Chicago, IL. After returning to Lyons Falls, he owned and operated Hoskins Dairy Farm for many years. He also worked construction for several years, returning to the farm until his retirement in 2007.

He is survived by four children, Linda Hoskins, Michael Hoskins, Jeffrey and Wendy Hoskins, all of Lyons Falls, and Robin and Pamela Hoskins of Port Leyden; Eleanor’s children, Joyce and Charles Halladay of Lowville; Larry Stevens of Dexter; Douglas and Betty Stevens of Manchester, NY; Rhudell and Catherine Burriss of Lowville; Shirley Burriss of Summerville, SC. He is also survived by a sister, June, many grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is predeceased by his wife of nearly 55 years, Eleanor Burrows Hoskins, brothers, Richard and Robert Hoskins; a granddaughter, Annette Merry; two great-granddaughters, Keyarra Anderson and Annabelle Burriss and Eleanor’s son, Roger Burriss.

Tom loved farming, hunting, and snowmobiling, and taking Gramma and Zena for rides. He was well known at the local restaurants they would go to every day on their rounds. He had a great sense of humor and was loved by many. He loved to sing and was a member of a barbershop quartet for several years.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, September 8, 2017 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Iseneker Funeral Home, with a funeral service immediately following. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Turin Volunteer Fire Company & Ambulance, 4239 NYS Route 26, Turin, NY 13473.
