Leon T. Faduski

July 15, 1937 to March 5, 2018

Port Leyden: Leon T. Faduski, 80, of West Main St. died Monday, March 5th at Faxton-St. Luke’s Medical Center, New Hartford.

He was born in Utica, July 15, 1937 to Thomas R. and Phyllis Simser Faduski and graduated from Boonville Central School in 1957. He served in the United States Navy from Jan. 15, 1958 until June 14, 1962 and in the reserves until Jan. 14, 1964.

Leon worked at various jobs throughout the country and when he returned to this area he started his own leather and jewelry making business. He was a member of St. Martin’s/ St. John’s Parishes and proudly sang with the choral group at the churches. He volunteered at many church activities and also served many people by volunteering to drive them to various places and will be missed by many. Leon loved to sing traveling often to sing karaoke . He starred as Daddy Warbucks in the 1985 South Lewis Community Musical. He enjoyed metal detecting, dancing, watching sports and he loved animals especially his cherished cats.

He is survived by his son, Bo (Tanya) and seven grandchildren, Rochester; three brotherHarry(Karen) Hollidaysburg, PA; Thomas (Bob) Linda, St. Johmsville; Victor (Mary Pat) Lyons Falls; Four sisters Mary Julagay , Spokane WA., Rita (Jerry) Wallace, Appleton, WI; Jane (Mark) Manzer , Renfrew, Pa; Kathy Evans, Port Leyden; 23 nieces and nephews; 43 great nieces and nephews and a great-great nephew.

He is predeceased by his parents and two nieces Laura Faduski and Tammee Wallace.
The funeral will be Saturday at 11:30 at St. Martin’s Catholic Church, Port Leyden with Rev. Lawrence Marullo pastor, officiating.

Friends may call Friday from 4 until 7 at the Callaghan Funeral Home, LLC, Port Leyden.
Spring burial with full military honors will be in Calvary Cemetery, Port Leyden.
Donations in his memory may be made to one of the following Lewis County Humane Society; Port Leyden Fire Dept. or to St. Martin’s Catholic Church.

A funeral reception will be held following the funeral at the Port Leyden Community Center. Food may be left after 9:00 am.
