Marsha M. Platt

July 29, 1950 - March 11, 2018

Boonville-Marsha Marie (Kraeger) Platt, 67, of Hayes Road East, passed away March 11, 2018 after a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born July 29, 1950 in Constableville, NY, the daughter of Robert and Dorothy Kessler Kraeger. Marsha received her education at Port Leyden Schools, graduating in 1968 from South Lewis High School and then attended Utica School of Commerce where she pursued a degree in accounting. She married LeRoy Platt on April 8 1978. He predeceased her on January 6, 2007.

She is survived by their children and their partners; Scott (Susan McCoy) of Madison, WV; Renee (Tom Buck) of Camillus, NY and Anthony (Nicole Wilcox) of Boonville, NY. Also surviving are step children, Norman Platt, Lisa (Rick) Backer, Brian Platt, Rebecca (Phil) Sweeney, Reginald Platt and daughter-in-law Chris Platt.

Also surviving are grandchildren who were her greatest joy; Tyler Platt, Alex Pfendler, Amara Choe, Jaxson Buck, Zander Platt, Alley and Avery Platt, Brandon and Heather Platt, Adam Reynolds, MaKenzie Sweeney, Christina and Kyle Platt; two great grandchildren, Tanner and Roland; siblings, Linda (Donald) Satterly and Lucy (Larry) Green of Boonville, NY, Michael (Martha) Kraeger, Sr. of Poland, NY, Royal (Adeline) Kraeger of Constableville, Stephen (Teresa) Kraeger of Lyons Falls, NY, Robert (Mindy) Kraeger, Jr., Henry Kraeger and Pete (Donna) Kraeger all of Port Leyden, Sharon (Richard) Bennett of Deansboro, NY and Marcelle (David) Hounslow of Charlotte, NC. Too numerous to list are an abundance of nieces, nephews, cousins along with many special friends who know who they are and a special Angel from Heaven.

In addition to her husband, Marsha was predeceased by their daughter, Erica Marie Platt on Christmas Day 1989, her brother Gordon Kraeger in 1982 and her sister Theresa (Robert) Foote in 1988.

Marsha was employed by Dept. of Motor Vehicles for approximately five years. She spent the majority of her life as a devoted homemaker. She also worked part time at the Headwaters Motor Lodge and for a period of time as a teacher’s aide in the Special Needs Dept. at Adirondack Central School until she was forced out of work due to an injury.
She was a member of the Elks Lodge #2158. She was a parishioner of St. Thomas More Chapel, (Society of St. Pius V) Utica, NY. She enjoyed a good game of Pitch, Cribbage and Euchre. She found extreme joy in crocheting for her friends and family and riding her golf cart which she named “The Toad”. Many years of joy were brought to her through her collection of Teddy Bears and teddy bear décor. Rusty, her beloved Golden Retriever was a constant companion for many years. She will be remembered for her faith and compassion for others.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Mills Funeral Home, 301 Post Street, Boonville, NY. Calling hours will be Wednesday, March 14, 2018 from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. with a service to follow at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Constableville, NY in the spring.
