Boonville- Ray H. Joslin, 90, passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on June 22, 2018.
He was born in Hawkinsville on November 17, 1927 a son of Ray H. and Ellen Chase Joslin. Ray was the youngest of five children and the only brother to four sisters, Kathrine, Noreen, Viola and Helen all of whom have predeceased him. He spent his time at home with the family until November 1944 when he entered the Navy. Upon his honorable discharge in 1946 he returned home where he met and married Lillian Williamson on February 28, 1952. Ray worked in the woods as a lumberjack in his younger years and for a period of time at Square Stamping, Barneveld. Ray held numerous odd jobs until he and Lillian opened Lil’s Restaurant in 1983. He was the breakfast cook and opened up every morning at 5 a.m. They sold the diner and retired in 1993. Ray spent a few of his retirement years working at Luchsingers Nursery until that business closed. Ray took care of his home and enjoyed hunting in the winter until his health would no longer allow him to do so. He was a member of the Charles J. Love Post American Legion, Boonville.
Surviving are his wife, Lillian; four children, Ellen E. and Dennis Prescott, Rochester, NY, Donald F. Joslin, Beatrice M. Joslin, both of Boonville and Allen W. Joslin, Norfolk, Virginia; five grandsons, Jason Joslin, Chester and Matthew Lastowski, Andrew and Bradley Joslin; eleven great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 27, 2018 at 2 p.m. at Mills Funeral Home, 301 Post Street, Boonville. Calling hours will be Tuesday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. He will be cremated and a committal service will be held on July 6 at 11 a.m. at the Boonville Cemetery with members of the Harland J. Hennessey V.F.W., Charles J.
