Philip J. Cassidy

Remsen- Philip J. Cassidy, 60, of Starr Hill Road passed away unexpectedly on September 28, 2018 at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center.

He was born in Utica on January 1, 1958 a son of Howard and Barbara Roscup Cassidy. He grew up in Remsen and then came to Boonville to live where he graduated from Adirondack Central School in 1977. He entered the United States Army and upon his honorable discharge he came back to Remsen where he was employed for the town as a truck driver. Phil was currently a bed shop technician at Mohawk Valley Health Care System where he has been employed for the past 35 years. He was a member of the Remsen Volunteer Fire Company, where he enjoyed marching in parades; he also enjoyed fishing, spending time with his family, giving grandchildren rides on the four-wheeler, muscle cars and he was an avid Mets fan.

Surviving are his companion and soul mate, Patty Hines; daughter and son-in-law, Kristine and Carlton Eastman II, Sherrill; son and daughter-in-law, Steven and Melinda Hines, Yulee, Florida; grandchildren, Alissa Marino, Andrew and Aidan Eastman, Clair and Connor Eastman and Troy and Annabelle Hines; one brother and sister-in-law, Fred and Charlotte Cassidy, Remsen; one sister and brother-in-law , Pamela and Douglas Boshart, Boonville; one sister-in-law, Linda Cassidy, Holland Patent; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Richard Jr. and Barbara Krecidlo, Remsen and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, a brother, Michael on March 6, 2009 and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Richard Sr. and Mary Krecidlo.

Phil’s funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 3, 2018 at 2 p.m. at Ackley-Mills Funeral Home, 9597 Main Street, Remsen. Calling hours will be from 12- 2 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will be in Steuben Valley Cemetery. Donations in his memory may be made to the Remsen Volunteer Fire Department. For an online message of sympathy please go to
