Sarah B. Politano

Utica- Sarah B. Politano, 87, formerly of Elsie St. Rome, and Markham St. Lyons Falls, passed away while surrounded by her loving family, on Sunday, September 30th, at St. Luke’s Home, New Hartford.

 

Sarah was born on August 5, 1931, at her parents’ residence, THE PLACE, ENFIELD, in St. Mary’s County, Maryland. Sarah was the daughter of James Franklin and Susan Palmer Greenwell. She graduated from Georgetown University School of Nursing, as a Registered Nurse. In 1994, Sarah relocated from Maryland to Lyons Falls, where she lived for several years.

 

In her youth, Sarah loved horses and was an avid equestrian. She spent summers on the beach in Ocean City, MD. Dancing, listening to music and playing Bingo were some of her favorite pastimes. Continuing her mother’s legacy, Sarah was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was also a member of St. John’s Church Lyons Falls.

 

Sarah is survived by her children: Ellen B. Politano, Hawaii, Mary Suzanne Politano, Utica, Cynthia A. Politano, Boonville and John F. Politano, Hawaii; grandchildren, Ryan and Rachel Ricci, Edward and Nicholas Pallett, Megan, Kellie and Mathew Politano, and her former spouse Pascal R. Politano, (Ret. Major, US Army). She was predeceased by her son, James Robert and by her brother, James R. Greenwell.

 

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, November 8, 2018 at 10:00 A.M. at St. John’s Church, Lyons Falls, where Rev. Lawrence Marullo will officiate. There are no calling hours. Interment will be at the convenience of the family in Our Lady’s Cemetery of Medley’s Neck Catholic Church, Leonardtown, Maryland. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John’s Church in Lyons Falls, Rosemary Farm Sanctuary, South Kortright, NY or the Port Leyden Food Pantry at St. Martin’s Church.
