Margaret R. (Dolan) Fowler

Port Leyden- Margaret R. (Dolan) Fowler, 89, a longtime resident of State Rt. 12, passed away on Tuesday, June 4, 2019, in Myrtle Beach, SC, at the home of her daughter and son in law, Kathleen and Jeffrey Wood, where she had resided for the past year. Mrs. Fowler was the widow of Daniel Fowler.

 

She was born in Highmarket, on April 30, 1930, a daughter of Clifford F. and Mary Bryant Dolan. She grew up in Highmarket, receiving her education at a rural school, and at Constableville High School. On May 27, 1949, she was united in marriage with Daniel F. Fowler, at St. Joseph’s Church, Boonville. Mr. Fowler, an Army Airforce Veteran of W.W. II, and employee of Georgia Pacific Paper Co. Lyons Falls, passed away on February 16, 1996.

 

Margaret was a member of St. Martin’s Church, Port Leyden. She greatly enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

 

She is survived by four sons, Michael Fowler, Port Leyden, Patrick Fowler, Sr., Conway, SC, Daniel J. Fowler, Jr. and Bruce Fowler, both of Port Leyden; four daughters and three sons in law, Kathleen (Jeffrey) Wood, Myrtle Beach, SC, Beverly (James) Cataldo, Martinsburg, Laura (Richard) Bell, Clayton, NC and Lisa Day, Myrtle Beach, SC; a daughter in law, Annette Fowler, Port Leyden; fifteen grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren and twenty three great great grandchildren. She was predeceased by two sons, Richard D. Fowler, Sr. on September 29, 2016, Edwin Fowler, in 1979, two grandsons, Richard Fowler, Jr. and Kyle Burgy. Also surviving are three sisters in law, Nancy Fowler Barry, Marilyn Fowler and Jenny Fowler and by her two furry friends, dog, Joey and cat, Molly.

 

Relatives and friends are invited to attend graveside services at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, June 17, 2019, at Calvary Cemetery, Port Leyden. There are no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lewis County Humane Society, P.O. box 682, Lowville, NY 13367.
