Susan M. Compo

Boonville- Susan M. Compo, 66, passed away on November 21, 2019 at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center due to a traumatic brain injury from a motor vehicle accident in January 2015.

She was born in Lowville, NY on February 15, 1953 a daughter of Maxim and Rosalind Wilcox Smith. She grew up in Port Leyden and graduated from South Lewis High School in 1971. She married John Compo and the couple later divorced. For many years she was a private duty home health aide. Susan resided in Boonville for many years before moving to the Vernon-Verona area for the past 13 years. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Church, Boonville. She enjoyed reading, baking, cooking, garage sales and traveling. She especially loved her grandchildren.

Surviving are her mother, Rosalind Smith, Boonville; her children, Melissa Compo (Dennis Podkowka), Boonville, Jennifer Barnes (Brad), Vernon Center and Dustin Perry, Rome; two grandchildren, Max and Kaitlyn Podkowka, Boonville; two sisters, Linda Almalfitano, South New Berlin and Sandra Kowalik, Boonville; two brothers, Robert Smith and Richard Smith, both of Boonville; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her father, Maxim and infant twin brother and sister, Timothy and Elizabeth and uncle, Vincent James Smith.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, November 25, 2019 at 10 a.m. at Christ Our Hope Church/St. Joseph’s Church, Boonville with Reverend Thomas Ward officiating. Spring burial in Calvary Cemetery, Port Leyden. Calling hours will be Sunday from 1-4 p.m. at Mills Funeral Home, 301 Post Street, Boonville.
