Joan "Grandma" Kline

Boonville- Joan "Grandma" Kline, 79, passed away on November 22, 2019 at Sunset Nursing and Rehabilitation Center due to illness.

She was born in Forestport, NY on November 27, 1939 a daughter of Thomas and Victoria Ferjet. She grew up in Forestport, NY and graduate from Forestport High School. She spent many years employed at the Oneida County Office building, Utica where she worked in audit and control. In 1985 Joan met her husband and love of her life Charles “Chuck” Kline in which she married in 1992. Joan and Charles both had children from previous marriages but accepted each others as their own and formed a family together. After the loss of her son Daniel Vaughn in 2007 Joan and Charles took in her two grandchildren Mackenzie and Darius Vaughn in which she raised until her very last breath. Joan’s grandchildren were her world and she enjoyed spending most of her free time laughing with them as she watched them grow. Also in her free time Joan enjoyed going to garage sales with her husband until his passing in 2015. She also enjoyed many ice cream cones with her sister Laura Williamson. Joan had a laugh that was contagious and anyone would be lucky to have known her.

Surviving are her son, Richard Vaughn, Oswego; her grandchildren, Mackenzie and Darius Vaughn, Boonville, Joshua, Rebecca and Christopher Roberts, Boonville, as well as many other “grandchildren” who she loved dearly; one sister, Laura Williamson, Constableville; a step daughter, Amy Roberts and husband Brian Roberts. She was predeceased by her mother and father, Thomas and Victoria, son, Daniel Vaughn and many siblings.


There will be no services. A private burial will take place for family at Boonville Cemetery in the spring. Arrangements are by Mills Funeral Home, Boonville. For an online message of sympathy please go to
