Robert Murphy

Boonville- Robert Murphy, 78, passed away on Saturday, August 1, 2020, at this home in Boonville, surrounded by his loving friends and UCP family at Sheehan IRA.

Robert was born in Kings County, NY, on March 18, 1942.  Over the years, Robert resided in many area of New York, but happily found his forever home at UCP’s Sheehan IRA, in 1988.  His dynamic personality was such a gift and Robert will be fondly remembered for the impact he had on friends, staff and his many acquaintances over the years.  Robert worked for a time at Sattler’s Barber Shop in Boonville, and once his work was done, Robert would enjoy a splash of hair tonic from Mr. Sattler (who would promptly tell other customers to “get up” to make room for Rob!)

Robert was a man who enjoyed so many things in his life:  the Boonville Fair, spaghetti dinners, Radio Shack AM/FM radios, tennis balls, hot dogs, getting his hair cut, and napping.  Robert was a man who appreciated fine clothing and dressing respectfully in suits and jackets.  He had a fine collection over the years, which included rubber balls and combs.  He loved all of his personal possessions and always kept them under his sharp and watchful eye!  Robert attended UCP’s Schoonmaker Day Habilitation program and was a 30 year veterans of the program until his retirement in 2018.  Robert will be missed by so many, many people with whom he crossed paths with over the course of his life.  He will be missed by staff at his home, his day program, care manager and others who loved Rob so deeply.  We’ll miss you, Robert.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, August 4, 2020, at 11:30 A.M. at St. Joseph’s Church, Boonville, with Rev. Thomas A.
