Margaret A. Kafka Garlock

Boonville – Margaret A. Kafka Garlock, 79, passed away on September 7, 2020 at Sunset Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Boonville.

She was born in Detroit, Michigan on October 19, 1940 a daughter of Francis A. and Anna Monach Kafka. Margaret grew up in a family of sixteen brothers and sisters in High Market and graduated from Constableville High School. She was united in marriage to Lester (Mike) Garlock on November 5, 1966. The couple settled in Boonville and moved to Locust Grove on State Route 12D. Margaret was employed at Sunset Nursing Home as a nurse’s aide for many years. She also was a waitress at Alpine Restaurant, Constableville for several years. Margaret enjoyed her family, flower gardening and her pet cat.

Surviving are her children, Jeanie and Anthony Matuszczak, Lowville, Francis Kafka, Locust Grove, Michael Jr. and Lori Garlock, Oriskany Falls and Donna and Charles Myers, Boonville; ten grandchildren; many great grandchildren and two sisters, Sherry Kafka, Sanford, FL and Marilyn Huebner, Lyons Falls. She was predeceased by her husband Mike on May 27, 2005 and many brothers and sisters.

Margaret’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Sunset Nursing Home for all the loving care shown.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, September 11, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Constableville with Rev. Thomas Ward officiating. There are no calling hours. Memorial Contributions can be made to the Boonville Fire Company, P.O. Box 164, Boonville, NY 13309. Donations of food may be dropped off at the home of Donna and Chuck Myers on Route 12D, Boonville.
