Alton C. “Chuck” Hill, Jr.

Lowville- Alton C. “Chuck” Hill, Jr., 72, of Dayan St. passed away on Friday, August 28, 2021, at Sunset Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Boonville.  


Affectionately known as “Chuck,” he was born in Lowville, on July 28, 1949, a son of Alton C. and Doris R. Failing Hill, Sr.  Chuck lived in Lewis County for all of his life where he graduated from Lowville Academy & Central School with the Class of 1967 and for many years was employed at various farm jobs throughout Lewis County, at the D.E.C. in Dadville and also as a feed mixer at Lowville Farmers Co-op for many years.  


An important feature of Chuck’s life was his desire to help other people.  He was able to fulfill this mission with membership in New Bremen Fire Department, which was a great source of pride for Chuck and he greatly enjoyed the friends he made in the department.  During his youth he also enjoyed showing horses at the Lewis County Fair.  


He is surviving by two brothers, David Hill, and Joe (Ann Marie) Hill and a sister, Avis (Carl) Tompkins, several nieces and one nephew.  He was predeceased by his parents; Alton C. Sr. in 1993 and Doris R. in 2005.  


Relatives and friends are invited to attend a graveside service on Friday, September 10, 2021, at 3:00 P.M. in Brantingham Cemetery, Town of Greig.  There are no calling hours.  His arrangements are in care of Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. Boonville.
