Beverly B. (Still) Kwasniewski

West Leyden - Beverly B. (Still) Kwasniewski, 87, of West Leyden, passed away on Thursday, April 8, 2021. Beverly was the wife of the late Chester (“Chet”) Kwasniewski. Chet passed away on August 5, 2013. Beverly had been a life -long resident of West Leyden, NY. For the last three years she was living at the Betsy Ross Nursing Home in Rome, NY. Beverly was born on July 22, 1933 in Ava, NY, a daughter and first born of Wendell and Beulah Grosjean Still. She grew up in Ava on her great grandmother’s and later on her parent’s farm. When she was 17 years old she was stricken with Polio. She was not expected to live, but despite the odds and because she was a fighter she survived polio without any serious lasting effects. She then graduated from West Leyden Central School in 1951. She married Chester Kwasniewski on March 31, 1951. For some time in the 1950's she worked at her parents saw mill in Ava, NY. In 1960 Chet and Beverly purchased the West Leyden Hotel and operated it together until 1967. For the next few years Chet and Beverly ran their own snowmobile, mobile home, and swimming pool business. In the mid 1970's Beverly became a professional florist and started and operated Toll Gate Florist in Boonville, NY. At the time of opening the florist business, it was consumed by a devastating fire that destroyed a number of other businesses in Boonville. Undeterred, she re-started the florist business again and successfully operated it in Boonville for over two decades. In 2002 Beverly sold the Toll Gate Florist business and retired. Beverly loved to cook. She was a great gourmet cook and homemaker. Together with her husband Chet they built their home in West Leyden, NY which they continued to improve and enjoy for over 60 years. At that home they had a number of large gatherings to celebrate special events. It was nothing for Beverly to cook for large numbers of guests at these parties and gatherings. She was a devoted, loving, high spirited, energetic wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law and one daughter and son-in-law, Gary Kwasniewski (Jeanette Viau) of La Cañada, California, Wayne Kwasniewski (Kit), West Leyden, NY, Dale Kwasniewski (Peggy) Brighton, Michigan, and Sandra Kwasniewski Gifford (Dan), Rome, NY; eight grandchildren, granddaughter Crystal (Brian) Leichty, grandson Jason (Anne) Kwasniewski, granddaughters, Ashley and Megan Kwasniewski, Sydney, Sierra, and grandson Hunter Gifford and grandson John Kwasniewski; two great grandchildren, Brian and Brooke Leichty; one brother, Robert Still and sister-in-law Connie; sisters-in-law, Lottie Janowski, Nina Kwasniewski, Eunice Kwasniewski, and Mary Dwyer; brother in law, Ronald Kramarz, and many nieces and nephews.
