Port Leyden- Charles W. McIntyre, 78, of E. Main St. passed away at Lewis County General Hospital on November 15, 2020.
He was born in Lowville on April 3, 1942 a son of Leo E. and Francis Violando McIntyre. He graduated from Port Leyden High School in 1959. He then joined the U.S. Marine Corps and after his honorable discharge in 1963 he had a successful career as a plant electrician mainly in California.
In his daughter Shannon's words, "If you met my Dad you loved him, everyone did. He could do and fix anything as well as talk an ear off you if you let him. Dad loved to fish and golf. He wouldn't let you rent a golf cart as he thought walking the course was part of the experience."
His granddaughter Ella said "If grandpa had a final thought it would be Thank God he didn't live to see Biden be president. Make America Great again".
Surviving are his wife Veronica Lepkowski McIntyre ; son, Michael McIntyre; grandchildren, Michele and Konner; a daughter and son- in-law, Shannon and Gary Miura and granddaughter, Ella. Also surviving are sisters, Jenny Failing and family and Etta Mae {Ginger} and Peter Poppleton and sons; a brother, Dale McIntyre and friend Teresa and family; a sister- in- law, Rosie McIntyre. He was predeceased by brothers, Leo {Tony} and Pasquale and several other infant siblings, a brother- in- law, Richard Failing.
The family would like to thank Port Leyden and Lewis County Search and Rescue Ambulances and the doctors, nurses and staff at Lewis County General Hospital for all the care shown to their loved one.
A Celebration of Life calling hours will be held on Saturday, November 21, 2020 from 1 to 3pm at Mills Funeral Home, 301 Post St., Boonville. A brief prayer service will take place at 1:30pm. Please wear a face mask and observe social distancing regulations. Memorial contributions may be made to any Military Veterans Organization.
