Forestport- Donald G. Pfendler, 69, a native and life-long resident of Forestport, passed away at his residence on Woodhull St., on Sunday, June 30, 2024. 

Affectionately known as Donnie, he was born on January 16, 1955, and was raised on Newton St. Forestport, by his grandparents, Guy and Vera Ritter.  He attended school in Forestport before completing his education at Adirondack Central High School, Boonville.  Later he was employed in heavy construction and in power line construction on the eastern sea board.  Afterwards he returned to Forestport and was employed as custodian for the Town of Forestport for many years.

Donnie was a member of the Catholic faith and he enjoyed fishing. 

He is survived by a half brother and his wife, Gregory (Gail) Ritter, West Leyden and three nephews, Robert, Bradley and Jeffrey; four aunts, Geraldine, Marilyn, Anne and Judy Ritter and many cousins and a special cousin, Jerry Pfendler, who over the years assisted Donald with transportation to medical appointments; nieces and nephews and by a special friend, Mary Alexander. 

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a graveside service on Saturday, July 13, 2024, at 9:00 A.M. at St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Forestport, where Rev. Deacon James Chaufty, will officiate.  There are no calling hours.  Memorial contributions may be made to The Forestport Fire Fighters, Inc.  11965 River Road, Forestport, NY 13338.
