Port Leyden – Donna L. Pfendler, 74, passed away at home surrounded by family and under the care of Lewis County Hospice on August 31, 2022.
She was born at the family home in the Village of Boonville on June 28, 1948, a daughter of Floyd and Clara Pfendler Kessler. Donna graduated from Boonville Central School in 1967 and furthered her education at C.C.B.I., Syracuse, graduating in 1968. Donna worked at Great American in Boonville and Lyons Falls as head cashier. She also worked at St. Martin's Catholic Church, Port Leyden for 23 years and was active in the operation of the Port Leyden Food Pantry. Donna was first married to Ronald Secore, and a second marriage to Dennis Pfendler, whom she married in 1989. He died in 2010. Donna enjoyed sewing, baking and crafts.
Surviving are her children, Anthony D. Secore, NC, Heather (Troy) Disotell, Boonville, Jennifer (Mark) Davis, NC, Cherie (Karl) Farr, Port Leyden and Duane (Hallie) Pfendler, Constableville; 18 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren and one sibling, Lynn Kessler, CO. Donna was predeceased by an infant daughter, Mariah Pfendler in 1992 and siblings, Duane and Douglas Kessler, Rose Marie Potter and Linda Allen.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, Sept. 6, at 11 a.m. at St. Martin's Church, Port Leyden with Rev. Lawrence Marullo as celebrant. Interment will be in St. Michael's Cemetery, Mohawk Hill. Calling hours will be held on Monday from 4-7 p.m. at Mills Funeral Home, 301 Post Street, Boonville.
