Frederick F. Snyder, 87, of Port Leyden, NY, departed this life on Saturday, June 17, 2023 with his family by his side.

Fred was born in Utica, NY, the son of the late Francis Andrew and Florence Hewitt Snyder; he was educated in Utica, NY and enlisted in the US Army in 1958 and was honorably discharged in 1960. In 1960, Fred married Phylis M. Douglas; she died in 1993.

Fred started his work career with the NYS State Canals and later worked for Griffiss Air Force Base; from 1965-1990, he was employed by the US Postal Service as Postmaster. After his retirement from the USPS, he worked as a dealer at Turning Stone Casino.

In 1999, he married the love of his life, Deborah White Martin and the couple resided in Port Leyden and their winter home in Florida.

Fred will be sadly missed by his beloved family: wife, Debbie, Port Leyden, NY; son, Fred Snyder, Jr. and his wife, Candy Cook Snyder, of Oneida, NY and their children, Patrick and Brady Snyder; stepchildren, Jody and Jan (Ernst) Martin and their children, Wyatt, Deana, Rachael, Laura, Curtis, Connie and Sarah, all of Marcy, NY, Todd and DJ (Sattterly) Martin and their children, Tyler, Emmalie and Kyle, all of Boonville, NY; stepdaughter, April R. Martin, Glenfield, NY and her children, Brooke, Josie, Audrey, and Kara; Kimberly R. Martin and her children, Tessah, Savannah, Hunter, of Remsen, NY; Frank and Bonnie Gatto and their children, Shane and Greg, of Sylvan Beach, NY, Bonnie Wilkinson, Oneida, NY; several great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. 

He was predeceased by his sister, Joan Snyder Stressel and her husband, Clarence (Red) Stressel.

In keeping with Fred’s wishes there will be no calling hours. Fred’s service will be held on July 22, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at the Veterans's memorial in Boonville, NY followed by Fred's celebration of life at the American Legion Post 406, 124 E.  Schuyler St., Boonville, NY. Friendship and fellowship will follow.
