Boonville – Gertrude A. Brown, 91, of Kortenaer Village passed into eternal rest at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center, Utica on July 4, 2023 after a brief illness and short stay at Sunset Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
She was born in Utica the daughter of Richard and Rosella Hoffman Larrivey on April 30, 1932. Early on in life she worked at various local restaurants until she became a dedicated homemaker caring for her children and at times other children from the area. As her family grew and later in life she worked as a housekeeper for St. Martin Church, a housekeeper/cook for Valhaven Adult Home and an aide for Sunset Nursing Home.
Fun times and laughter could always be had with a good game of cards with her friends, a night at the bingo hall or just a couple of hours at the casino. Another of her greatest enjoyments in later years was the advent of the scratch off lottery ticket. She enjoyed reading along with doing word search puzzles.
Surviving are three sons and two daughters-in-law, Raymond (Lisa) Brown, Blair (Rebecca) Brown, and William Brown; two daughters and two sons-in-law, Beverly (Ben) Sweeney, and Rachele (John) Major; nine grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, one brother, Richard Larrivey, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter, Wanda, her parents, Richard and Rosella, three brothers, John, Rolan (Bud) and Frank Larrivey and three sisters, Muriel Muha, Mildred (Midge) Lisowski and Laura Larrivey.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday, July 11, 2023 at 11:30 a.m. at Christ Our Hope Church, Boonville. Interment to follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Boonville. Calling hours will be on Monday from 4-7 p.m. at Mills Funeral Home, 301 Post Street, Boonville. Donations in Gertrude's name can be made to Boonville Fire Department Ambulance Fund, P.O.
