Port Leyden – Henry John Kraeger, 67, of Port Leyden, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, October 25, 2023. He was born on September 6, 1956, in Port Leyden, to Robert and Dorothy (Kessler) Kraeger, and graduated from South Lewis Central School, with the Class of 1975.
Henry was last employed by Union District 112 as a bridge painter journeyman. Previous employment was with Ethan Allen and Law Brothers. For the past 11 years he worked for family and friends as a carpenter. Henry was known for his superior carpentry skills throughout the north country. He will be remembered as a hard worker, and as a kind person, who would do anything for you.
He is survived by his oldest daughter, Melissa Blanchard and her fiancé, Shane Boshart and her three sons; Andrew Hoffman, Caleb Baxter and Jeramiah Elliott. Also surviving is his youngest daughter, Brianne Smith and fiancé, Brad Stanford and their daughter, Emilee Stanford; siblings, Linda Satterly, Royal (Adeline), Michael (Martha), Stephen, Sharon (Richard) Bennett, Robert (Mindy) Kraeger, Jr,
Pete (Donna), Lucy (Larry) Green, and Marcelle (David) Hounslow. Henry was predeceased by his parents, Robert and Dorothy Kraeger, his granddaughter, Eliza Hoffman, a brother Gordon and two sisters, Theresa Foote and Marsha Platt and by a brother in law, Donald Satterly.
Relatives and friends are invited to calling hours on Friday, November 3, from 4-6 P.M. at Trainor Funeral Home, Inc., 143 Schuyler St. Boonville, followed by a funeral service at 6:00 P.M., also at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to his family to assist the family during this time.
