Boonville – Janice M. Yauger, 92, passed away unexpectedly at home on March 1, 2024.


She was born in Boonville on December 31, 1931 a daughter of Adolph and Anna Larsen Marcy. She grew up on the Marcy Farm in Boonville and attended Boonville High School. She married Edward Yauger on July 31,1948 where they settled on Ford Street and then to Route 12. Edward passed away in 1992. She worked at Foodland and was a waitress and cook at Slim’s Restaurant for over 40 years. When you came for breakfast and saw her smiling face you knew you would be getting an excellent meal.

Janice was a charter member of the Adirondack Community Chorus, and serving as librarian.   She was a devout Christian and was a member of the First Baptist Church, Boonville, serving as secretary and teaching Sunday school. Janice also enjoyed attending Trinity Episcopal Church, Boonville. She enjoyed taking walks and reading and was very quick witted. Janice loved cooking and baking and was well known for her homemade baked beans and carrot cake. She was affectionately known as gram and a second mother to many. She will be deeply missed by her friends and family and all that new and loved her.

She is survived by four daughters, Linda (Bill) Busler, Lois Nichols, Sandra Yauger and Bobby Denslow, and Brenda (Steven) Cox; six grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Janice was predeceased by siblings, Lura Hutton, Dean Marcy, Elaine Smith, Lyndon Marcy and Wayne Marcy.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 8, 2024 at 4 p.m. at Mills Funeral Home, 301 Post Street, Boonville. Calling hours will beheld from 2-4 p.m. prior the service.
